  Lewis Irwin Landerholm

  Founding Partner

  Dedicated to helping families through challenging times, Lewis founded Pacific Cascade Legal. He has been helping clients in family law cases for years.He is known as a perceptive and compassionate lawyer who excels at helping those dealing with divorce and custody cases. Lewis handles the management of his firm, as well as a full caseload. His ability to be straightforward and understand both sides without personal bias has been crucial to the success of his practice. Lewis began his law career as a part-time clerk for an attorney during law school, when he confirmed his passion for family law. Motivated to make his mark on the world, Lewis founded his practice right out of law school and continues to seek new, dynamic ways to foster positive change in the lives of his clients. He has eight years of upper management experience giving him business management skills that are integral to the continued success of his firm. Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a minor in business from University of Oregon. He received his juris doctor degree from Willamette University. Lewis is now the Board of Directors at Catalyst. A self-proclaimed sports-addict, Lewis shows his team spirit both in the game and when he’s cheering on the sidelines. He supports a team of dedicated attorneys, encouraging their professional growth and development. His positive thinking keeps him motivated, solution-oriented and makes him an ideal mentor and leader for his team.

  Will M. Jones

  Partner

  Will M. Jones Partner About Will’s journey to become a lawyer almost didn’t happen. He had originally applied to medical school, but the groans and complaints from friends about all of the memorization that was required in medical school made Will change his course to law, which requires more analysis and application of knowledge – something Will certainly prefers. In Will’s eyes, law provides the opportunity to take a set of circumstances, apply them to relevant law, and truly analyze how things fit together. Family law provides Will with the opportunity to be in the courtroom, while also finding solutions outside of the courtroom. He has years of experience and extensive family law experience. In family law, creative solutions are everywhere and thinking outside of the box is truly valuable. That gives Will the ability to think of creative ways to resolve disputes. If those solutions don’t work, the courtroom is available and he is more than excited to litigate if necessary. According to Will, there is nothing better than litigating and winning, except maybe coming up with a solution that nobody thought of that avoids litigation. “To find the right solution, for those who know what is right,” says Will, “is exactly why I am an attorney, why I practice family law, and why I do what we do.” Will was born in Milwaukie, OR, and was a multiple time state champion pole vaulter in high school. From there, he followed his pole vaulting dream from the Northwest to Jonesboro, Arkansas, training under several Olympians. He pole vaulted all around the world until he was nearly 30, and received a Masters degree along the way. He spends his free time with wrenches, working to upgrade a 1988 Jeep. He is also working on his cooking skills. Will’s favorite thing about Portland is the fact that he believes it is a mix of city, country, and small town. “If you want it,” says Will, “it is probably in PDX.” If he were to live in a different era, Will would choose the 1920s because “they had sweet suits!” Will looks up most to his mother, who taught him family law from the inside, even though she didn’t intend to. The impact, the difficulties, the results, he has seen first hand and understands, through her, that there is more on the other side of a divorce than there ever could be before.

  Natalie Thorp

  Jr. Partner

  Since attending law school, Natalie has become a formidable family law attorney who couples her professional and personal understanding of the divorce process to deliver effective and compassionate legal representation. Natalie understands that her scope of practice is often the only exposure to the law that many individuals will ever encounter, and that it can be a low and stressful point for her clients. For this reason, Natalie appreciates how important it is for these individuals to have an attorney who will genuinely care, fight for their rights, provide hope, and be an active and effective advocate for their case when they feel they cannot. Outside of practicing family law, you’re likely to find Natalie enjoying Oregon’s renowned beauty from 10,000 feet in the air. A co-owner of Pacific Northwest Skydiving Center in Mulino, Oregon, Natalie considers skydiving her life passion, and primary focus outside of her work and family. Originally from Redding, CA, Natalie has lived in Portland since 1997, and says that Oregon’s beautiful and impressive display of colors during the changing seasons are what she most appreciates about her home. When asked who Natalie most admires, her husband comes to mind. A partner who values kindness, he often states, “I want to be proud of who I am and how I treated everyone at the end of my life.” According to Natalie, this is an ideal in which she strives for every day—for her family, for her clients, and for her community.

  Alan Nieczyporuk

  During his time in law school, Alan was the recipient of the American Constitution Society scholarship and participated in multiple organizations, such as Environmental Law Review, Employment Law Society, American Constitution Society, OUTlaw, and the Student Bar Association. Alan was fueled to pursue law because of his passion for people—specifically, protecting the rights of the people around him, and providing answers for those fighting for positive outcomes in some of the most important areas of their lives. With an extensive background in a variety of different types of law, from employment litigation to business law and white-collar crime defense, Alan has the unique ability of applying his multifaceted legal career to the complexities of family and employment law cases. Alan believes that every individual possesses the ability to change the world around them, and that the smallest of actions can create a ripple effect towards reformation and growth. An admirer of Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Alan is fueled by her saying: “Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time.” An aficionado of a variety of outdoor activities, you may find Alan hiking, camping, or running in the diverse Oregon terrain. With such close proximity to the mountains, the coast, and some of the best restaurants in the nation, Alan does his best to seize the day and take advantage of the unique cultural and topographical elements of the great Pacific Northwest.

  Kimberly Brown

  Attorney

  Kimberly Brown’s 23-year career practicing family law is one that has been filled with impressive wins, strategic problem-solving, and its fair share of challenges—luckily for her clients, Kimberly is not one to shy away from complex family law matters. Rather, she has been known throughout her career as an attorney who welcomes the challenge of complicated cases, and has continually displayed her unique ability to employ out-of-the-box legal solutions to help propel her clients forward. Born in Portland when her family was back for “home leave” from diplomatic duties, Kimberly spent many of her formative years overseas, and has lived on six of the world’s seven continents. With an innate sense of curiosity and desire to ask the deeper questions, Kimberly showed signs from a young age of having the makings for a great attorney. After receiving her J.D from Willamette University College of Law in 1998, she had originally planned to open an immigration law practice. However, once realizing that family law allowed her the opportunity to better the lives of her clients in a meaningful way, Kimberly changed her course, and dedicated her career to taking on every family law case that came her way. She has years of experience and extensive family law experience. When asked about the most rewarding aspect of being a family law attorney, Kimberly cites the many opportunities for creativity. Whether it’s crafting a parenting plan or dividing assets and debts, she understands that most cases have unique issues that cannot be met by “cookie cutter” forms or plans. Rather, she enjoys finding creative ways to meet the unique needs of each of her clients by utilizing a rounded understanding of not only family law, but of tax law, real estate law, antique valuations, business law, immigration law, financial planning, estate planning, psychology, and health. Kimberly is also highly motivated by helping families navigate the transition of a changing family dynamic, so that they’re prepared for their next steps ahead. According to Kimberly, “My job is to help clients see that while the family configuration will change— they will no longer all live together, the children will have two homes, or they may not have all of the money that was in their investment account— there are still relationships that need to be helped along into the next reiteration. It’s challenging, sometimes fun, sometimes draining, but never boring.” Despite having experienced the beauty of many countries and continents, Kimberly feels confident that there is no place in the world more beautiful than Oregon, which is where she and her wife of 32 years, Gail, have put down roots. As avid rock and gem collectors, Kimberly and Gail have traveled not only the country, but the world, hunting for fossils, petrified wood, sapphires, black opals, and other rare gemstones and rocks. When not practicing family law, Kimberly also enjoys listening to audiobooks, swimming, and watching college football, college softball, and professional soccer. A member of MCC Portland, a faith community rooted in the Christian tradition with an outreach to the LGBTQI++ community, Kimberly has spoken at many rallies on the issues of faith and immigration, as well as faith and LGBTQI++.
